B.U.M.S is a five-year undergraduate degree program that deals with the medical knowledge and applications of the Unani system and surgery. This program is an undergraduate degree course in Unani Medicine and Surgery. Unani education in India is monitored by the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) which is a statutory Central government body which is a statutory body under the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH).
The Unani medicine system is one of the ancient medication systems adopted by the South-Asia and Middle-East countries of the world. This system originated in Greek by the great physician Hippocrates. It is also known as the Hikm or Unani Tibb Medicine. It has 6000 years back history.
The patients are taken care of by enhancing the natural healing power of the human body. The concept of Unani is that the body rejuvenates itself because of its self-healing power. This course just needs to help it by enhancing the natural healing power.
Eligibility Criteria
1. The basic requirement for the eligibility to get the admission to BUMS program is qualifying for the 10+2 examination with 50% marks.
2. The candidate must have physics, chemistry, and biology in the 12th class.
3. The students who have the language Urdu in 12th class or have proficiency in the Urdu language have been given the preference in admission.
4. The regulation body of Unani education is the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) in India. There are just 35 medical colleges in India that offer educational programs in the Unani system.
5. Some reputed institutions offer admission through the national and state-level entrance examinations.
6. Students can appear in NEET 2021 (National Level Exam), KEAM 2021 (state level exam) for admission in the BUMS course.
7. The candidate should be a minimum of 17 years old.
